Four days in April of 1997 changed golf forever.
It was then that young (21) Tiger Woods officially arrived as a phenomenon, not just on the course, but on the American sporting landscape at large.
From April 10-13, Woods put on a clinic that resulted in a stunning 12-stroke win over runner-up veteran Tom Kite in the Masters.
The Masters!!
Yeah, the kid had arrived.
From that point forward, every tournament Woods played had us all tuning in to see what sort of history he would make. Suddenly, golf was a major sport to be reckoned with, even among television audiences.
And, eventually, even in the hobby.
