Howdy …
This week’s Friday newsletter is under construction as we “speak” — it’s Investment Corner week, so that’s always great fun.
Before we make it to that nearly-weekend finish line, though, I wanted to check in to let you know about some changes coming to this little corner of the internet.
In particular …
1. We’re Expanding
Right now, there is just one version of this newsletter, and everyone sees the same thing every time an issue goes out.
Basically, that means one free Baseball Card Market Report per week — and that will not change at all.
As long as I’m here typing away, the weekly Baseball Card Market Report will roll on, hitting every inbox on my list, for free and modulo any life bumps in the road that might impede a particular issue.
Beginning next week, though, you will have the opportunity to opt in to an expanded paid subscription. So what does that mean, exactly?
Well …
2. What’s Changing?
Basically, we’re adding in some of the content and tools that you’ve asked for over the 16 months we’ve been at this.
Content and tools like …
Top seller lists for football, basketball, and hockey
More visits to the Investment Corner (i.e., more of our picks for cards that have potential for value growth)
Guides on grading, pricing, card history, and other “burning” hobby issues
Hobby news
Tools like real-time value lookups and resources for finding places to sell your cards
Some of the new stuff will be available as posts and email messages, some as eBooks, some as spreadsheets, some as ... well, whatever format is best for the job at hand.
The only change for current subscribers is that each “old” issue will remain free for four weeks before sliding over into the full paid archive of all past posts.
3. Publishing Schedule
The plan to start with is to follow this basic publishing schedule:
Monday or Tuesday — one piece of “paid” content from among the list above
Friday — free weekly Baseball Card Market Report (same as now)
In addition, some of the more resource-y type items, like live price lookups, will come along here and there. A couple of them will be ready right away.
Besides the extra weekly article, paid subscribers will also have access to the full archive of past posts, plus the ability to participate in occasional exclusive discussion threads.
4. Why the Change?
There are two primary reasons for this expansion:
To give those who are interested a chance to read more hobby content and access to more tools without affecting those who are happy with the current offerings.
Putting together this information takes a lot of time and effort, and offering a paid option gives folks a chance to support this work if they’re so inclined.
5. How Much Does “Premium” Cost?
There will be two options for jumping into the paid version of the newsletter:
Monthly ($5)
Yearly ($50)
Either of these membership levels will give you full access to all the paid resources we put out.
And, of course, there will always be the same free version of the newsletter that you receive now.
6. What to Expect Next Week
Next week (September 20-25, 2021) will be a sort of preview week, with one new post going out to all subscribers each day for five days.
Monday through Thursday will feature a sample of the types of paid content you can expect in the coming months, and Friday will be our normal (free) weekly Baseball Card Market Report.
At the same time, we’ll start folding in a few of the early premium resources, and begin moving the oldest issues of the newsletter into our paid archive.
Remember, though — each weekly Baseball Card Market Report will still come to you for free, and it will remain in our free archive for four weeks.
That’s it!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy our expansion, even if it’s just during next week’s preview.
See you in the Investment Corner on Friday.
