Most Expensive Football Cards Sold on eBay in August 2023

Can Manning catch Brady? And no, this isn't a 2010 timewarp.

Earlier this summer (yes, it’s still technically summer), we saw some “vintage” names pop up on our list of the most expensive football cards selling on eBay.

My speculation was that it might have all had something to do with the passing of the great Jim Brown in May. And there’s no doubt that we saw more of Brown's card make our monthly list in May and June.

But along with Brown, we also saw a bump in the number of cards featuring players with names like Payton and Manning — “old” guys the market hadn’t thought too much about in awhile.

Even so, Tom Brady continued to reign supreme in terms of the number of entries on our monthly top-sellers list.

Now, though, with the NFL preseason underway and Tom Terrific finally not under center for a pro team, would that change? Would it make room for more old-timers?
