Last month, we saw all-time goals leader Alex Ovechkin slide behind Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid in our unofficial “standings” of the most expensive hockey cards sold on eBay during May of 2025.

That sort of put the card market back to “normal,” though Ovechkin still outpaced Connor Bedard for the month.

But with the Stanley Cup Finals taking center stage — and with McDavid’s Oilers in playing for the trophy — would there be a shakeup at the top of the card market? Would any new cardboard heroes emerge as summer beckoned?
