When last we checked in on the raw football card market, we saw that new cards dominated top eBay sales in September of 2023. Among the more than 80 listings we looked at, only one card was issued before 2000.

And that single 20th century card was from 1998 — it barely made the cut.

That distribution made some sense, seeing as how the new NFL season was then about a month old and there was plenty of on-field news to drive the market.

Is there any reason that situation might have changed in the last three months? After all, the season has raged on during that entire time, and now we’re knee-deep in the playoffs.
